First place to go

Students interested in studying abroad should first consult the faculty of the International Office at the University of Münster. There you can find the necessary application forms as well as helpful information on studying abroad and scholarships.

Preparing

Preparing for studying abroad depends the deadlines of the programme that you are applying for. Deadlines are often up to a year in advance. For example, the deadline for a programme in the winter semester could very well be in September of the year before. You can find the deadlines of the most prominent scholarships on the corresponding homepages of the foundations that award them. The International Office of the university you wish to study at may also have information on scholarships and financial aid.

Individual deadlines from the university you wish to study at should also be taken into account as they could also be up to a year in advance of the programme’s timeframe.

We advise you to start preparing for your study abroad between 15 and 18 months ahead of time!

When should I go abroad?

Bachelor students should plan to go abroad in their fifth semester and start preparations a year in advance. Students of other study programmes should see Mirjam Manoutchehri during her office hours to inquire about their programme-specific recommendations.

How can I find a university?

The English Department has agreements for study abroad programmes with the following universities:

Deadline for submitting applications for all Erasmus-Programmes : 15.1. for the following WS, 15.7. for the following summer semester

You can also look for a university yourself and apply there directly. Most of these universities provide an application form and information on the formalities on their respective homepages.

The DAAD homepage provides detailed information including a collection of links on the various countries.

The organisation college contact which is based in Münster is an information and service organisation for private transfer into other countries. The homepage college-contact.com provides detailed and helpful information concerning many aspects of a stay abroad.
www.wege-ins-ausland.de is equally helpful.
