Academic calendar
The academic year is divided in two terms. The winter term starts in October, exams usually take place in February. The summer term starts in April, exams take place in July. Exact term dates change from year to year.
The current academic calendar can be found at http://www.uni-muenster.de/studium/orga/termine.html
Language of instruction is German – only very few lectures are offered in English and other languages.
Fees
All students, incl. ERASMUS students, have to pay a "social contribution" for student facilities and the "Semester ticket" (public transport) of approx. 210 € per semester.
Student housing
International students can apply for a room in a student hall of residence operated by the Studentenwerk Münster, a public student welfare organisation. The number of rooms is limited. Early application and flexible preferences will increase the students’ chances.
You can find information about the halls of residence at the Studentenwerk website http://studentenwerk-muenster.de. The online application form can also be found at the Studentenwerk website - follow the link “Housing” –“Applications” – “Online Application”. Please indicate in the last box of the form - “Hints” – wheter you are an ERASMUS student.
If a room is available, the Studentenwerk Münster will send a room offer directly to the student - via mail to the home address or via email - in January for the summer term or in August for the winter term and send a room. As soon as the lease contract has been signed, both the deposit and the first monthly instalment of the rent for rooms in halls of residence have to be paid immediately.
Information on housing can also be found on the official city homepage:

You can rent an apartment or share a flat with roommates (called WG) or rent the place of a student who is going abroad. Most landlords want to meet the tenants personally, though, so it may not be easy to rent a flat when you are still abroad.
If you know enough German to check local newspapers - please check the information of the ERASMUS-Office http://erasmus-muenster.de/lang/en/. There are links to local newspapers (the "na dann" is a free events kalender and student's paper, mostly ads) and an accomodation forum and blackboard with ads of students who want to sublet their rooms: http://erasmus-muenster.de/lang/en/wohnenacommodation/The International Students Centre "Die Bruecke" offers help and support, you can meet other students from your country who already live in Muenster
Of course you can stay in one of the numerous hotels of the city or the Youth Hostel in the beginning:
