Prospective students and first semester

The following is a list of the most frequently asked questions from prospective students and students in their first semester. Click on a question to receive the corresponding answer.

Q: I’ve decided to study English at the University of Münster. What should I do now?
All bachelor programmes in the English Department are part of the centralised admissions system. For this reason, you will first have to apply to study at the university. You can download the application here. Please remember that a printed version of the application must also be submitted on time, in addition to the electronic one.
Applications turned in past the due date cannot be taken into consideration. You can find more information on the application process on the English Department’s webpage more necessary and interesting information for prospective students.

Q: Where can I get help and advice on how to organize my programme?
For answers to questions about the organisation of your programme, see the academic advisor Silja Fehn or contact the English Department’s Student representatives.

Q: I’ve been accepted into the programme. Which classes can I attend now?
In your first year, you must attend the classes in the basic module (Grundlagenmodul) “Foundations for the Study of English Language, Literature and Culture”. These classes are reserved for you. You can register for these classes online with the LSF/QISPOS-Portal.  A guide to LSF/QISPOS can be downloaded here.

Q: The classes in the expansion module (Aufbaumodul) seem more interesting than those in the basic module. Can I take these classes first?
No. The programme is structured modularly. This means that the expansion module (Aufbaumodul) builds on the knowledge received in the basic module (Grundlagenmodul). For this reason, the modules must be completed in a consecutive order.
