Frequently asked questions

Module exams

I missed the registration deadline for a module exam. What should I do now?

Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is wait for the next exam date. We cannot and do not accept late registration forms. We further advise you to submit your registration form at the beginning of the registration period. Please do not wait until it is too late!

Is it sufficient to register for an exam in HISLSF?

No. You need to register for all module exams administered by the English Seminar in writing. The necessary forms will be made available during the registration period at the department library, at the module examination office and online. You will find the information whether you are registered as a candidate online and on one of the notice boards by the module examination office after the registration period is over.

Where do I find information on exam dates and registration periods?

On the notice boards by the module examination office or :
Updates and announcements

Why am I not allowed to take my personal things into the exam room?

In the past, students were allowed to deposit their personal things such as jackets and bags in the front of the exam room. This is no longer allowed for several reasons. The abundance of jackets and bags along the walls of the exam rooms block fire exits and constitute tripping hazards. Students leaving the exam room early disturb the others by having to shuffle through all the bags and jackets.  Finally, your things are not protected from theft or damage if not locked away properly. Please keep your belongings in the lockers downstairs or in one of the buildings adjacent to the English Seminar. If you are taking an exam that a lot of fellow students have to take as well, please be considerate and share lockers with your classmates.

How long does it take until I get my exam results?

Please allow at least eight weeks for the corrections to be completed. This might seem like a very long stretch of time, but please keep in mind that the professors usually have multiple types of exams to grade and that usually at least two people have to grade your module exam. As soon as the exams are graded, your results will be posted in the English Seminar. You can also check on our webpage whether you have passed or not. We will then give the results to the Prüfungsamt to be entered into Qispos. Please be aware that this can take another two weeks and may not happen on the same day for all candidates.
